The bulk of my email is spam

Actually, only about ten percent is, but according to the CBC, that is the 'bulk' of it:
Meat packers got bulk of mad cow aid

Oh, those filthy meat packers! Those big bad corporations stealing money that should go to the little guy! Give that money to the farmers!

EDMONTON - More than 10 per cent of the $400 million in mad cow aid distributed in Alberta went to two meat-packing companies, the province said on Monday.

Another $200 million was split among 40 other companies. The rest of the money was divided among 22,000 Alberta producers and companies, who were paid an average of $18,000.

To skim this article, one would be left thinking that Alberta beef producers got the shaft. However, $18,000 isn't a bad haul, and when you consider the amount of money that the meat packers lost, it then seems logical that they should get the 'bulk'. Approximately 160 million dollars went to producers, which ain't bad. I wish British Columbia's goverment had that kind of cash to split amongst meat packers, producers, and farmers!

Alberta Agriculture Minister Shirley McLellan said it was right for the biggest players to get the biggest cheques.

"I've known what was going to come today," McLellan said. "It's 'Gee you paid the big guys,' and 'Gee the little guy didn't get much.' But you know what? The little guy didn't lose much either.

"The little guy didn't have that much invested or he would have got a bigger cheque."

Now don't get me wrong, I've got some good friends who are farmers, and it aint easy work at all! I think they certainly deserve a break after the BSE (emphasis on the BS part) and Avian Flu scares. But the CBC is making it seem as though this was a completely unfair distribution of funds, which it really wasnt.
If only the bulk of CBC.ca readers had access to more objective reporting... and I don't mean ten percent.
