What the Hull?

Can somebody explain this to me?

The Detroit Red Wings are not expected to offer Brett Hull
a new contract for next season, according to the Detroit Free
Press.

Now don't get me wrong, I have no great adoration for Hull. In fact, I rather hate the selfish bastard, but this guy is a danny good hockey player, and in the last half of the year he was firing on all cylinders. How could he not be in their plans??? The only team that has more money to kick around than Detroit is the Rangers, and Brett Hull was a crapload better than Holik, Bure, or Lindros were this year!
